Top golfing tips

Golf isn’t something you can pick up in a summer, or even in a number of summers. It’s the sort of sport that can take a lifetime to perfect.

To help ensure you’re able to do yourself justice out there on the fairways and greens, it’s important that you have the right women’s golf clothes. Here at LeSports we offer an impressive selection of products and should have everything you need to help ensure you look and feel great on the course.

Also, you might benefit from taking on board some expert hints and tips. There is plenty of advice out there on the web for you to take advantage of.

Swing through the ball

For example, writing on Golf Digest, golf teacher Karen Palacios-Jansen highlighted the importance of swinging through and not to the ball. About this, she said: “Most slow-swinging amateurs slap at the ball or try to scoop it up into the air, which causes the club head to slow down through impact. There’s no gradual build-up of speed, which is a defining trait of good tempo.

“To learn how to accelerate the club through impact to a full, balanced finish, practice swinging with your head cover on your driver. The additional resistance on the club head will force you to drive it through impact into a full finish, and will teach you how to use tempo to generate more speed and power.”

Rotate

Meanwhile, also offering advice, fellow teacher Cheryl Anderson stated that players need to shift their weight. According to the expert, to gain more distance, it is important to rotate the body’s core through the shot so that it finishes on the left side.

On this topic, the specialist remarked: “You want your thighs to finish close together – you should be able to hold a sheet of paper between them – and your lower legs to form a small, inverted V from the knees down. If the V is larger or there’s a gap between your knees, your weight is not on your left side. Most likely, you’re hanging back on your right foot, which causes the club to bottom out early and hit the ball fat or thin. Reduce the size of the V, and you’ll improve your balance and gain distance.”

Sweep it

Ms Anderson also recommended sweeping the ball off the tee rather than hitting down on it. This, she said, helps players to achieve the maximum distance from their tee shots.

By taking a look around our website, you can peruse an impressive selection of items, including ladies’ golf trousers, ladies’ golf tops and much more. Buying from us is quick and simple, and we provide impressive value for money too.

Armed with all the knowledge you need, and the perfect golfing gear, you should enjoy your experiences on the course.

The right golf clothing can help you concentrate

Being able to concentrate is a must on the golf course. Even tiny distractions can affect your game and turn what would have been superb shots into disastrous mistakes. This is why the ladies’ golf clothes you choose are so important.

You should tailor your outfits to suit the precise conditions of the time of year and the day itself. This can help you to improve your game and enable you to get more enjoyment from the sport.

A low sun

One big problem for golfers as autumn begins to set in is the low sun. This is at its worst in mid-December, but well before and after this point, the position of the sun can have a big impact on players.

If you’re determined not to be phased by this glowing ball out there in space, it may be time to invest in some suitable headwear. Here at LeSports we sell a selection of ladies’ golf visors, including Fila Retro Sports Golf Visor Cap. This can help to keep the sun out of your eyes and it has the added advantage of keeping your head and ears warm, which is important as colder conditions set in.

You might also want to take your sunglasses with you to help protect your eyes.

Numb hands can ruin your fun

Golf is a game of patience and there is plenty of standing around involved. During the summer, you can simply bask in the warm solar rays. However, when it’s colder, you might struggle to keep your hands warm.

Cold mitts are a big no no on the golf course. It’s impossible to play controlled shots when you can’t feel your clubs properly. Also, cold hands can be painful.

This is where golf gloves come into their own and the Daily Sports Ladies Golf Fleece Handwarmer Mittens are well worth a look. These items have a microfibre quilted outer layer and a chequerboard finish palm for added grip.

Protect your feet

Your feet have to work hard when you’re out and about on the golf course, so it’s only fair that you treat them well. There are few things more distracting when you’re trying to take the perfect shot than having cold, wet feet.

We sell an impressive range of ladies’ golf shoes and should have the perfect versions for you. For example, perhaps our Adidas Ladies GolfLite 3 Z Waterproof Golf Shoes in black would be ideal. They are 100 per cent waterproof, meaning you won’t have to worry on rainy or snowy days.

It’s also a good idea to wear a pair of thick socks under your shoes to help keep your feet nice and toasty.

Easy as that

The good news is, ordering items from our website is quick and simple. All you need are a spare few moments and an internet connection. By making sure you’re well equipped for a range of conditions on the golf course, you should be able to enjoy virtually year-round action on the fairways and greens.

Feminine chic on the golf course this summer

At last, we’ve been treated to some better weather and you might want to celebrate the fact by investing in some fabulous new women’s golf clothing. Gone are the days when ladies had to put up with drab, shapeless attire on the course. Now, it’s possible to buy products that exude feminine chic.

Here at LeSports we realise that as well as feeling comfortable on the fairways, our customers want to look their best. That’s why we offer products that are both practical and stylish.

Shorts and Skirts

For the summer months, women’s golf shorts and skirts are must-have items. Finally getting some sun on your legs is a great feeling and there are some superb products to choose from. We offer a variety of shorts and ‘skorts’ from some of the industry’s most renowned designers, including Ashworth, Adidas and Calvin Klein. You should be able to find colours, cuts, designs and styles to suit you.

One great option is the eye-catching Adidas Ladies Climacool Chevron Knit Golf Skort in white and oasis. This has a contoured elastic waistband and features two side pockets.

Meanwhile, the Ashworth Ladies Golf Shorts are also one to watch. These classy shorts have a buttoned front with adjustable buttoned waist belts and belt loops. They come with two front pockets and two rear pockets.

Tops

Of course, you can’t neglect the top half of your outfit. Luckily, we have plenty of gorgeous T-shirts and other products for you to peruse. For example, maybe our Cutter & Buck Annika Drytec Ladies Golf Polo in black will take your fancy. This boasts Drytec technology, which helps to wick away moisture and keep you cool.

Shelter from the sun

A sunny day may be a rare treat in Britain, but it’s important to protect yourself from the glare of the solar rays when you’re on the course. This is where hats come in handy. You can complement any summer outfit perfectly with a Daily Sports Ladies Paper Straw Hat and it comes in white and pink.

Whether you choose to take the hat off to take your shots or keep it on, this product can stop you burning and protect your eyes.

It’s also important to use plenty of sunscreen and, if you’re planning to stay out on the course for a long time, take the bottle so you can keep topping yourself up. Even under thin cloud, you can turn an unhealthy shade of pink if you’re not careful.

Quick and simple

We know that our customers lead busy lives and don’t want to spend an age buying ladies’ golf shorts and other products. That’s why we’ve made our website quick and simple to use. All you need are a spare few moments and a web connection.

Improve Performance With Ladies Golf Accessories

Diverse Golf Tops For All Seasons

Nothing says golf like a good top specifically designed for the sport. This doesn’t mean that it has to necessarily make you a walking cliche, far from it, since most labels will go that extra mile to create something that is uniquely shaped or designed. They are however designed for the environment that you are going to be entering, so it is important to consider the weather conditions, in particular the wind. Womens golf clothes fortunately come in a wide variety of designs so you can not only be prepared for the conditions but you can also face the course in style. These range from short and long sleeve shirts to slipovers, roll necks and cardigans. Each can add a different aspect to your game and your look.

Golf Shirts

Ashworth ladies golf clothing creates some of the most instantly recognisable shirts available. The Long Sleeve Polo shirt has a four button design with collar and is made from 100% non-iron cotton and will coordinate with slipovers to create a more versatile and warmer outfit. Alternatively, the shirt can easily be worn on its own when the temperatures improve, and as you would expect from a golf shirt, it is designed to give you freedom of movement through your swing. These come in a wide range of colours including white, pink, navy and purple. Ashworth also manufacture great looking polo shirts to offer some protection for the neck. Alternatively, they also have ¾ Golf Polo Shirts which have an open V neck with collar to provide the maximum in comfort. Similarly, the material is 60% cotton, 37% polyester and 3% spandex to ensure that these have all of the give necessary for a completely uninhibited swing. Ashworth also manufacture formal shirts for which can look great both on and off the course.

In the summer months it is important to get a golf shirt that reflects your environment both in terms of place and temperature. Many people love to golf in different countries where it perhaps isn’t fitting to wear typical golf attire. The Daily Sports Ladies Safari Capsleeve Golf Polo in camouflage is a fantastic item, designed to be cool but also with the requisite give being made of 100% nylon. Similarly the Green Lamb Ladies Tech Performance Sleeveless Golf Polo has been created to enable you to weather those higher temperatures in style.

Classic Cardigans

The cardigan is perhaps a golf staple, particularly when coupled with the Argyle design. Daily Sports however have their own take on the tradition with their Zipped Cardigan. This knitwear item is great for those games where the weather starts to turn colder. It has a full length zip and ribbed collar to keep the wind off. Each of these cardigans are beautifully cut and designed to flatter, but neither are they meant purely for the golf course. The designs are contemporary and modern and should find a way into your normal rotation of clothes, whether you golf a lot or not. It is always therefore worthwhile looking out for our ladies golf sweaters sale.

The Rise in Women’s Golf

The myth might go that the name ‘golf’ stands for ‘Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden’, but the fact is that more and more women have embraced the sport over the last few decades. In fact, it was one of the first sports in which American women were allowed to participate, and these days there are several big names in the professional women’s golfing world. The success of these female golfers has encouraged many other women to take up the sport as a hobby or professional pursuit.

Golf is popular for many reasons. As a physical activity, it is not too strenuous, meaning that people of all ages can play and enjoy it. It is also a popular way to relax after a hard day or week’s work, with the open green landscape providing a calming setting to get away from the daily grind.

Golf is also known for its particular fashion and clothing styles. The restrictions imposed on the types of clothes that could be worn on the golf course were actually a reason why the sport originally took some time to catch on with women. These days, there is a much wider variety of comfortable and stylish ladies’ golf wear available to buy, which makes the sport even more appealing to those wishing to take it up. Many golf clubs do still impose some restrictions, however, such as not wearing short shorts or jeans, but the variety of clothing available for women golfers nowadays makes it easy to follow these rules.

When signing up to a golf club, you should always check what their dress code is first, if they have one. Most golf clubs will allow ladies’ golf trousers, shorts, skirts and even ladies’ golf skorts (a combination of shorts and a skirt front), although the length of these might be specified. You may also want to check on the rules relating to sunglasses, hats and visors, gloves and jackets. There may be specific requirements relating to footwear, including the wearing of spikes and sandals, and sleeveless shirts, which are considerations for the summer months.

Looking at the top female golf professionals and their golf clothing, you’ll see that they have stylish yet practical outfits that enhance their game. After all, there is no reason why your outfit can’t help you look good as well as play well. Clothing should be made from a comfortable, flexible and breathable fabric, so as to allow you to enjoy your game without being restricted by your clothing. This is why you should choose clothing that has been specifically designed for golfers, as it will really make a difference to your game.

Here at LeSports, we specialise in ladies’ golf clothing, stocking the best brands and products of the highest quality and value. You’ll be amazed at our extensive range of fantastic ladies’ golf wear, all of which can be delivered in the UK absolutely free of charge without any need to register. Museum puts female golf in the spotlight

In the past, golf tended to be the preserve of men, but now things are different. Lots of women like you are heading to driving ranges and golf courses to test their skills. Thankfully, there’s now plenty of women’s golf clothing to choose from, meaning it’s easier than ever to look and feel great on the fairways and greens.

The trend towards increasing female participation has been driven by a range of factors, including rule changes in clubs and social developments.

British Golf Museum

One institution that’s determined to recognise the role women have played and continue to play in the sport is the British Golf Museum. It has opened an exhibition focussing on women’s golf through the ages, The Courier reports.

It noted that the first lady golfer on record was Mary Queen of Scots, adding that by the end of the 18th century, the fishwives of Musselburgh were playing competitively to win a silk scarf.

Milestone

Meanwhile, by 1893, the Irish Ladies’ Golf Union and the Ladies’ Golf Union had been established and it was the latter, as opposed to gentlemen’s clubs, that established the universal handicapping system that remains the basis of the game today.

More recently

The publication noted that more recently, a rising number of ladies have made golf their profession, including Catriona Matthew, who was the first Scottish woman to win a major. She took top spot in the Ricoh Women’s British Open.

Student help

The exhibition is being organised by postgraduate students from the museum and from the gallery studies course at St Andrews University. Commenting on this, senior curator Laurie Rae said: “Working with the students has been a great experience for the museum, watching a dynamic new interpretation of our collections taking shape, particularly in the year in which the Ricoh Women’s British Open returns to St Andrews.”

Meanwhile, Louisa Grossi, one of the students involved in the project, added: “The exhibition has been a fantastic opportunity to highlight the importance of women’s golf history.”

Looking and feeling the part

Playing golf these days is very different from the experiences of early women participants. Now, it’s possible to use hi-tech clubs that add distance and accuracy to shots and, just as importantly, there are lots of fantastic items of clothing to choose from.

Looking and feeling good while you’re out on the course is crucial. With this in mind, you might want to take a look around our website here at LeSports. We offer an impressive selection of ladies’ golf trousers, ladies’ golf jackets and other garments that could be ideal for you.

Achieving consistency around the greens

As well as choosing the perfect ladies’ golf clothes to help ensure you look the part while you’re out and about on the course, you might be keen to pick up some tips to help improve your game.

Golf is such a complex sport that perfecting your technique can take a lifetime. This element of challenge is what many players love about the activity. Thankfully, there are plenty of helpful hints available online, and by taking advantage of them, you stand to boost your skills more efficiently.

Minimising the role of your wrists

According to golf expert David Leadbetter, when you’re playing around the greens, it’s important to avoid using too much wrist action. Writing on GolfDigest.com, he said: “Many tour pros use a little wrist action in their short-game swings. They can do this because of their talent level, along with the thousands of hours of practice they put in. For amateurs who don’t have a lot of time to work on their games, wrist action adds difficulty and risks inconsistency on greenside shots. Besides, you don’t need it.”

He noted that Steve Stricker, whom he described as a “wonderful short-game player”, hits many shots around the greens with hardly any wrist action at all.

Basic pitch

When you have a decent lie and a little green to work with, but there’s an obstacle in your way like a bunker, it may be best to use a basic pitch, the specialist suggested.

To do this, you set up in a narrow, slightly open stance with the clubface square. Keeping your hands and arms relaxed, swing back by rotating your upper body away from the target. Your wrists should remain passive but not rigid. Mr Leadbetter added that you should almost pause at the end of your backswing, then turn through until your chest faces the target.

Sand shot

Meanwhile, when you’re in a good lie in a relatively flat area within a greenside bunker, it’s time to use a sand shot. This involves playing the ball off your front foot and your stance and clubface should be slightly open. Also, it’s important to set more weight onto your front leg.

Begin by turning your shoulders and chest and swinging the club along your open stance – and take care not to cock your wrists. Then swing down into the sand behind the ball, rotating your chest as you follow through. It’s also important to keep your knees flexed throughout.

Low runner

Mr Leadbetter also offered advice on low runner shots. You can play these when you’re near the green and have room to run the ball up to the hole. Take a narrow stance and address the ball just back of centre, while also setting your elbows in close to your sides.

Turn your shoulders to create the backswing and rotate your chest forward to move the club through the ball. According to the specialist, you should keep your swing compact.

Test them out

Armed with tips like this and some stylish and comfortable women’s golf trousers, ladies’ golf shirts and other garments from our website here at LeSports, you might be eager to put this theory into practice.

Perfecting your putting

As a sport, golf has really opened up to women over recent years. Whereas in the past, golf clubs were often seen as the preserve of men, women are now a common sight on fairways and greens and there are plenty of talented female golfers on the world circuit.

To help ensure you get the most from your sessions on the course, it’s well worth investing in some of the stylish and practical ladies’ golf wear available. Meanwhile, you might also want to take heed of some tips to help enhance your technique.

Putting

Despite being the shortest shots, putts can be among the trickiest to get right. However, by bearing in mind a few key principles, you might be able to boost your putting skills.

According to a BBC article, getting this right comes from developing a smooth rhythm. It suggested that there are no “hard and fast rules” when it comes to putting and you can develop any style you like as long as it delivers a smooth and reliable stroke.

Wrists

The article suggested that very few top golfers break their wrists when they putt, instead letting their “arms hang loosely” and holding their putters lightly so both “hang like a pendulum from the shoulders”.

It added that you should set the ball near your front foot, with the club face square to the target line and your eyes over the ball. It’s important to keep your hands level ahead of the ball through the stroke, the news source suggested.

Smoothly

The next step is to move the putter away smoothly with your arms hinging from your shoulders rather than your elbows or wrists and it’s good practice to keep the putter head as low to the ground as possible. Keeping the club on a line square to the target, you can swing back and then forth.

Tempo

The article went on to draw attention to the importance of maintaining tempo through the swing, accelerating slightly into the ball.

It added: “Watch the putter head strike the back of the ball on the upswing, feeling almost as if the palm of your right hand is striking it towards the target. The best putting strokes look smooth because the club is swung back and forward at the same speed.”

You should then follow through to the hole with the club and not your eyes and it’s good practice to keep eye contact on the spot where the ball was rather than trying to see where it’s gone, the article went on to note, stating: “Practice counting two seconds in your head before you allow yourself to see how well you’ve done.”

Looking and feeling the part

In order to help ensure you get the most from your experiences on the golf course, whether you’re lining up a putt on the green or driving the ball down the fairway, it’s important you look and feel good.
